All of our deep seed trays have cells that are 150mm deep. This depth is suitable for most deep-rooted seedlings, allowing enough space for root growth while being shallow enough for efficient space use.
Deep seed trays are ideal for plants with longer root systems such as tomatoes and peppers, as well as forestry plants like trees and shrubs. These trays provide the necessary depth for roots to grow without becoming root-bound, promoting healthier plant development. For smaller seeds like microgreens and perennials, try our shallow seed trays.
Our long-life deep seed propagation trays are incredibly durable, with many customers reporting they last over 10 years, and some even using them for up to 20 years.
To use deep seed trays, fill them with a high-quality seed starting mix, plant your seeds at the recommended depth, and keep the soil consistently moist. Place the trays in a warm, well-lit area or under grow lights. The depth of the trays supports extensive root growth, ideal for plants that need more space to establish their roots.
Seedlings should be removed from deep seed trays when they have developed a strong root system and a few sets of true leaves. This typically occurs a few weeks after germination, depending on the plant species.
