FAQ’s

Seed trays should have a depth that supports the root system of the plants you are growing. Our shallow seed trays are ideal for nursery stock, perennials and bedding plants. You can also use them for small vegetable and salad plant seeds.

Our shallow seed trays measure 350mm x 215mm, making them suitable for use with our large base tray. We have four options available depending on the number of seedlings you wish to start. These are; 15L, 28L, 40L and 77L. The numbers indicate the number of cells per tray. Click on the product you’re interested in to see the specific cell dimensions.

Yes, shallow seed trays from Containerwise are made from durable, UV-stabilised polypropylene that’s designed for repeated use over many seasons, promoting sustainability and reducing reliability on single-use plastic trays.

Our long-life shallow seed seed trays can last in excess of 10 years, with some of our customers reporting as many as 20 years of use.

This depends on the type of plants you’re growing. Shallow trays are ideal for most vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Deep seed trays are better suited for plants with longer root systems, such as trees and shrubs.

Long-Life Shallow Seed Trays

Discover long-life shallow seed trays, a cost effective and eco-friendly alternative to flimsy, single-use propagation trays.

Reuse year after year

Long-life shallow seed trays are constructed from high-quality, UV-stabilised materials, making them incredibly durable. They are designed to withstand the rigours of multiple growing seasons, ensuring that they can be reused year after year. This durability not only saves money over time but also supports sustainable gardening practices by reducing plastic waste.

Promote healthy growth

By starting seeds in trays, you can easily monitor and nurture seedlings until they are strong enough to be transplanted. This careful handling reduces the risk of transplant shock, ensuring better survival rates when seedlings are moved to the garden or larger containers.

Easy management

Shallow seed trays are perfect for gardeners with limited space. Their compact design allows for the cultivation of numerous seedlings in a confined area, such as a greenhouse, windowsill, or small garden bed.
