FAQ’s
One of the easiest trees to grow from seed is the maple tree. Maples have a high germination rate and require minimal special treatment, making them an ideal choice for beginners. Similarly, fruit and nut trees, such as cherry trees, apple trees and chestnut trees are also great options.
Forest saplings are typically ready for transplanting when they have developed a strong root system and are around 6 to 12 inches tall. This is usually within one to two years after germination.
The best season to plant tree and shrub seeds in forestry trays is early spring. This timing allows seeds to benefit from the warming temperatures and extended daylight hours, promoting optimal germination and growth.
For forestry seeds, deep propagation trays with sufficient depth to accommodate long root systems are ideal. These trays should also have good drainage to prevent waterlogging and promote healthy root development. Alternatively, shallow seed trays work best for most vegetables and perennials.
Growing trees and shrubs from seed offers several benefits, including cost-effectiveness and the opportunity to select and grow native or rare species. It also allows for the development of strong, resilient plants that are well-adapted to their environment from the start.
Long-Life Forestry Trays for Eco-Friendly Propagation
Forestry trays from Containerwise provide an eco-friendly, reusable propagation tool for growing forest trees and shrubs from seed. Protect the future of our forests with high-quality trays made with healthy plant development in mind.
Enhanced durability
Our forestry seed trays are made from high-quality injection-moulded plastic designed to be used over and again for 10+ years. Their robust design provides a dependable structure for tree and shrub propagation all whilst saving on the costs of frequent replacements.
Getting it right at the root
Roots are the foundation of any sapling, and we’ve designed our trays so that your trees and shrubs can thrive once transplanted. The deep cells promote air pruning and prevent root circling and girdling for healthier, more vigorous plant growth. Forestry trays also feature drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. For transporting and transplanting your seedlings securely to maintain the roots, look no further than our propagation accessories, and stack and nest containers.
Reuse and recycle
Streamline the propagation process and minimise your environmental impact with recyclable and reusable trays. The trays are designed for easy cleaning and handling. Plus, their compatibility with automated filling and transplanting systems makes them an efficient choice for large-scale forestry operations.
